Daria Dobrycheva. Machine Learning in Morphological Classification of Galaxies

This summer, I had the honor of being part of an incredible initiative, organized by the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Ukrainian Catholic University, the Simons Foundation, and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences — the extensive Summer School on Data Sciences. This school was aimed at experienced researchers, and out of more than 120 applications, 50 participants with diverse specializations were selected, including astrophysicists, biologists, and specialists in machine learning.

Throughout the week, renowned American and Ukrainian experts, such as David Spergel, delivered lectures on various topics. The topics covered a broad spectrum, from statistical methods and machine learning in cosmology to data models for embryonic development and the commercialization of research. The school also offered panel discussions, sectional meetings, and mentoring opportunities>

I am grateful to all the organizers, lecturers, and participants for this opportunity. Being a part of this school and lecturing for the first time was an incredible experience that I will always remember.
