Доброго дня всім,


Це чудові новини! Сподіваюсь, що процес вступу пройде без ускладнень і вже весною Україна буде представлена в СТА.


Я вийшов на зв'язок з групою в інституті DESY, Zeuthen (передмістя Берліну) щодо можливої співпраці з українськими групами. Вони керують напрямком розробки програмного забезпечення для керування телескопами і збору даних (Array Control and Data Acquisition). Розмовляв з Igor Oya, який є проект-менеджером цього напрямку і його реакція була дуже позитивною. Ігор сказав мені, що в них бракує рук і вони будуть лише раді допомозі. Він також окреслив першочергові завдання де їм потрібна зараз допомога (див. нижче).

Завдання запропоновані Ігорем:


* Help for the programming of the slow control software, which takes care of the integration of the telescope (and additional devices) specific systems to some layer which is common for all the telescopes in the CTA array. Java and or C++ is much welcome. Provide support or a framework for the device specific engineering GUIs.

* Help in the coordination/integration of the software itself, setup of automatic tests systems (unit, integration etc), automatic build system, active role in code reviews. Support bug fixing and new feature development in the frameworks of the ACTL system.

* Help in the "central control" plus overall central services and support like the overall monitoring system, database management, status of the array as a whole, separation of the array in sub-array, integration/interdependence of the online analysis with the central control. Integration of the automatic scheduler with the central control. Integration of the camera and trigger systems with the central control. (C++, Java, Python)

Результатом візиту проф. Островскі до КНУ та його зустрічей з акад. Я. С. Яцківим
та проректором КНУ з науки проф. Вижвою стала згода Української сторони розпочати процес вступу в СТА
шляхом створення в Обсерваторіях КНУ, ЛНУ та в Інститутах НАНУ окремих груп, які приєднуватимуться до СТА
по мірі готовності ( почавши конкретну співпрацю із зарубіжними партнерами за задачами СТА) шляхом подання заявок
від керівника команди - представника певної інституції. КНУ зараз організовує комп'ютерну групу, від якої подамо
заявку на вступ. Задачі для компютерної групи - в листі-відповіді координатора проекту малих телескопів Терези Монтарулі
нижче ( ще нижче - мій лист до неї та західних партнерів) та в доданих файлах
Це службові файли СТА колаборації, тому прошу не розповсюджувати їх
( Шановний Андрію Неронов: які є обмеження на використання цих файлів та іншої документації СТА, з якою ми
працюватимемо?)

this is very good news.


You are very welcome in the SST-1M project. We will support your application to CTA.






As soon as possible we will add you and the people you will indicate in the relevant mailing lists. I add to this email Mimmo Della Volpe who is the project


manager.






The idea of reinforcing the software is very relevant to me at this time.






Actually since we have now a much larger task force I will coordinate with Rafal about setting up a phone call on a bi-weekly basis. Rafal is the coordinator of


the software working group for simulations and he coordinates the auxiliary system of the telescope. We need manpower for these 2 tasks and we need good coordination of


this manpower.


I think for the time being we need to be involved in improving the simulation of the telescope and of the array of telescopes and especially to find the proper strategies to determine the


pointing accuracy now on simulation and in the future (before summer 2015) to check it on the data.






The group of Andrii has responsibility for the data-pipeline and some of the calibrations. We need also people helping on the camera calibrations.


Andrii has two postdocs involved in this task.






I have a postdoc working with Roland Walter (that I also add in CC),


on ACTL and the software control of the telescope with Etienne Lyard who is responsible of the part that extracts the data


from the camera and sends them to the Array Control of the observatory (ACTL).


Also on this topic we need help. Particularly we need people to help on software concerning the control of actuators of mirrors, shutter and


we need work on the camera software.


Also on this aspect we have a task force that is organized.






We would very much appreciate your valuable help on these topics. Please consider them, read relevant parts of the TDR, talk to us and the experts here in CC


and we will help you finding the right projects for the people in your group.






We are ultimating the TDR of the project which you find in ( attachment-BH).

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to the Michal's visit to Kyiv our management at Kyiv National University (KNU)

and National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) has agreedto join the CTA, namely,

to support at present stage the work of Ukrainian scientific teams in form of collaboration

with western partners and to support at KNU-NASU level an application of our teams

(with indicating in supporting letter that Ukraine willseek opportunities to finance

the project). In order to start, we would like to create the first team in KNU, to begin

the real specific work in collaboration with some CTA-team, and then to send the

application, indicating our working collaboration with this team. With time, another

team from another institutions of Ukraine will send applications and join the CTA.

Now we can create a team in field of computing and software (4-5 persons). Therefore,

we would like to ask Andrii and Rafal to join our 2-3 persons to your CTA-team.

If you agree, please, send us some information about problems/tasks and necessary

level of skill and number of persons for collaboration with your team.

Further, we are going to send our team members to Poland and Switzerland

( or to invite your members to Ukraine if you wish) for contacts and beginning

of work. And after that we will be ready to send official application to CTA-consortium.

If you have some propositions for collaboration in another fields ( optics, electronics etc.)

we will look in Ukrainian institutions for such a team.
