Visibility of Mars in 1999:
Satellites of Mars: Orbital, physical and photometric data.
       Mars rises around midnight at the beginning of the year, in Virgo (passing 4oN of Spica on January 8), moving into Libra in mid-February and into Virgo again after mid-April. It is at opposition on April 24 when it is visible throughout the night. Its eastward elongation gradually decreases, moving into Libra in late July, Scorpius in early September and Ophiucus in mid-September (passing 3oN of Antares on September 17). It then continues into Sagittarius after mid-October and into Capricornus from late November.
