Software

The unique software Kiev-Geodynamics is used for SLR data analysis. It was developed by Vladimir Tarady, Valery Salyamov, Konstantin Nurutdinov, and Mikhail Tsesis (the Main Astronomical Observatory). Then, the software development was carried out by Sergei Rudenko and Olga Bolotina.

The software Kiev-Geodynamics was developed for OS-360/370 operating system and is written on FORTRAN-IV programming language. The software interface is written on C programming language.

The software consists of two parts: POL and TOP.

The first part of the software, POL, is used for:

  • modelling parameters,
  • calculation of modelling distances to satellites,
  • calculation of derivatives from the distances.

The second part of the software, TOP, is used for differential improvement of the parameters.

The software makes estimations for the following parameters: the Earth's orientation parameters, coordinates and velocities of a selected set of stations, and satellite orbit elements.

The models and methods recommended by IERS Conventions 1996 and 2000 are realized in the Kiev-Geodynamics software.

In 2003, the development of the Kiev-Geodynamics ver. 6.0 software was started. The new version will be adapted from FORTRAN-IV to standard ANSI FORTRAN-77 for the Linux operating system.
